Preface

Balkan Wildlife Scientific Society was established in 2014 with the aim to join researchers from different fields of game and wildlife biology from the Balkan region and worldwide. Idea to establish the Society arose during three year period of organization of the International Symposium on Hunting. One of the main outcomes of the joint work within the Society is establishing the Balkan Journal of Wildlife Research.

Balkan Journal of Wildlife Research is a scientific journal that intends to contribute to all aspects of game and wildlife biology. Journal publishes researches in the following fields: game management, game nutrition, game diseases and health care, game genetic and conservation, cynology, human dimension of wildlife management and other hunting management and wildlife management related topics.

In this Special Issue to volume 1, we selected papers presented during the 3rd International Symposium on Hunting that was held at University of Belgrade, Faculty of Agriculture in September 2014. Symposium was organized by Balkan Wildlife Scientific Society and Faculty of Agriculture, with a co-organization including six institutions: Faculty of Agriculture and Faculty of Sciences, University of Novi Sad; Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Belgrade; University Ss. Cyril and Methodius Skopje; Albert Ludwig University and Szent Istvan University. We were happy to welcome more than 50 participants from 11 different countries. The main topics during the Symposium were: game management, game nutrition, game healthcare, game genetics and conservation, cinology, and other related topics. We provided opportunity to extend communication during the Symposium by organizing annual meeting of Balkan Wildlife Scientific Society and a social program.

We hope that future developing of the Balkan Journal of Wildlife Research will foster further cooperation among researchers working in game and wildlife biology. We are thankful to all colleagues that contributed to the first Special Issue. We highly appreciate any further contributions, suggestions and dedication to establishing the Balkan Journal of Wildlife Research into internationally recognized scientific journal.
